What will change for my hosting?

For the most part – nothing, but for those of you with unique situations, you will receive specific emails on what is needed.
You will now get access to more Open Source Applications to include WordPress and Joomla.
Packages will be upgraded to PHP 5 and mySQL 5.
All to help improve the look and functionality of your site.
If you use ASP (Active Server Pages) or the current Site builder, you should have received an email regarding these features. We will not be supporting ASP or the current site builder, but will be offering a new Site builder giving you access to many more fully customizable templates, a free image gallery and many more widgets to make your Web site even better.
You will have a new Web site analytics tool – AWstats - that will have similar functionality to Urchin. After the upgrade, you will have access to last month’s and the current month’s data.

Will I experience an outage at any time?

Yes. To enable this upgrade, a brief, perhaps intermittent outage is unavoidable.
During the normal period of time that it takes for DNS to propagate across the Internet, you may experience some intermittent issues. Normal DNS propagation is largely out of NameSecure’s control, but we are making system changes to minimize the effect as much as possible – so that the outage is minimal.
Additionally, you will not be able to send or receive mail from your Web mail or mail client during this time.
You also might temporarily (no more than 12 hours) experience “missing” saved messages and/or folders on the e-mail server. NOTE: If you experience this, you should remember – your messages will not be lost! They are simply in the process of being moved from one server to another, and will be fully restored on the new platform once the upgrade is completed.

Will I lose any stored e-mail in my inbox or folders?

No. If you experience "missing" saved messages and/or folders on the e-mail server, remember - this is temporary (no more than 12 hours) and your messages/folders will not be lost! They are simply in the process of being moved from one server to another, and will be fully restored on the new platform once the upgrade is completed.

Will I lose any forwarding, alias or auto-responder capability I have set up?

Possibly. We are standardizing our email system and will have three forwards, 10 aliases and 1 auto-responder. You can manage these by following these steps:

If you have any aliases set up (an alias is an additional address that goes to your main email address), the first ten that you have set up will appear in the alias fields in your email manager. You can access the email manager as you do today – by accessing the Email Settings tab for your specific domain in My Account Manager.
If you have any additional addresses that go to a different email address (such as a gmail or Yahoo account) or have a specific auto responder set up, that capability will no longer be available.
We recommend that prior to the upgrade, you set your email to Catch-All. This will allow any addresses you have set up to be forwarded to your main email address.

Will I lose mail that is sent to me during the upgrade window?

Possibly. To enable this upgrade, a brief, perhaps intermittent outage is unavoidable.
During the normal period of time that it takes for DNS to propagate across the Internet, you may experience some intermittent issues receiving e-mail that is sent to you. Normal DNS propagation is largely out of NameSecure’s control, but we are making system changes to minimize the effect as much as possible – so that you receive as much e-mail sent to you as possible.

Top

What URL will I use to access mail via the Web after my mailbox is upgraded?

Once your upgrade is complete, the URL to access your Webmail will change from “webmail.yourdomainname.com” to “mail.yourdomainname.com”. After your mailbox is upgraded, you'll need to type “mail.yourdomainname.com” into your Web browser. For example, if your domain name is gonamesecure.com, the URL address you'd type into your browser will be "mail.gonamesecure.com".
